The Spindolyn ™*
 ~the Original Quill Supported Spindles ~

The unique and original "quill supported" engineering eliminate the "drop" of a drop spindle, the need for the support of a support spindle and give a smooth, fast spin, great for medium fine to fine yarns.

   The hardwood base and whorls are finished with an oil based stain in a warm, neutral tone. The final coat is a hand rubbed non-toxic oil finish of my own recipe of a combination of beeswax, coconut oil, mineral oil and all natural lemon oil. (It may be ordered unfinished upon special request.)

    In response to loyal customers and spindolyn collectors, I have decided to offer the interchangeable bases and spindles both separately, so that you can mix or match or add to your collection in whatever way you choose.
This reorganization has resulted in some combinations being new lower prices! (that's always nice!)

Would you like to make  a bean bag pouch or nest for your spindolyn?

The Spindolyn is made of two parts, the spindle whorl with it's brass shaft, and the wooden base with it's specially shaped brass tube that the shaft rides in.
    The base sits between your knees, tucks in your pocket or fits into a bean bag pouch so that it can sit comfortably anywhere on your lap.

The spindolyn can be used for fine and short to medium and long, from "cotton to Cotswold" so to speak. It is not a production spinner, it does not spin wicked fast, nor does it hold a big amount of spun fiber, but it is fun and relaxing.
       Perfect for spinning sitting down, in the car, tucked in your pocket, in your easy chair or while lounging on the couch!

Choose your Spindolyn Whorl Style

(don't forget to order a base, too, if you don't already have one, spindolyns do not work without a base. All spindolyn spindles are ~9" and fit in bases with a 3" tube)

Tenor

The Tenor is moderate speed and handles a wide range of fibers, it is a good all around choice.
2 3/4" diameter, 2 oz whorl.

Soprano

    The soprano is the daughter of the Original. Lighter weight than the tenor, it can spin a wee bit faster for finer, more delicate spinning.

(It is also available with or without the tubing over the shaft, for those who might prefer to forgo the comfort of the tubing for the tiny gain in speed of the uncovered brass shaft (drop me a note in the shopping cart)

The best all around whorl, simplistic styling out of hand rubbed oak, in a mid weight that can spin from fine to bulky.

This base works well in a bean bag pouch, knitted nest or sitting between your knees. (~5" tall)

Apollo Base

This style has lower clearance (useful in the car) and can also fit sticking out of your jeans pocket for spinning and walking (chewing gum, too, if you can swing it)

Cubia

The only style that can be used on a tabletop as well as in your lap. The cubia is also different from the others in that the tube sits at an angle. This allows you to draft out to the side, reducing arm fatigue and overhead clearance.
The square base can be set at a variety of angles in the crook of your lap; straight up for faster spinning, at an angle for more leisurely spinning. (2 x 2" cube, ~4" heigth)

~ Shipping Policy~
   As with all of our products, each item is individually made on a per order basis. The glue and finish has to be completely dry and the quality checked before the spindles can be shipped out.                        
       Most order ship within a few days, but I am a one woman business, and sometimes, if it is a time of high demand, I can run as much as a week behind. But be assured I am pedaling as fast as I can. If you are in a great hurry for a special reason, like a birthday, please email and I will try my best to accommodate your need for speed.

~ Satisfaction Policy~
I want your experience with the spindolyn to be a happy one. If something goes awry (wrong spindle shipped, defective, whatever, even though I really try very hard, perfection in this lifetime is not going to happen for me)  I will be happy to exchange or replace your spindle for the correct model or refund your money (including postage) if you choose to return it.
 If you return it because you decide spinning is jut not for you, I will also refund your money. (not including postage)
